PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
As another incredible school year comes to a close, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our students, families, staff, and community partners for your ongoing support, encouragement, and commitment to Tommy Douglas Secondary School. Together, we have created a school community where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Your partnership has played an important role in making this a successful and memorable year.
One of the highlights of June was our Graduation Ceremony, where we proudly celebrated the accomplishments of 411 graduating students. It was a wonderful evening filled with pride, laughter, happy tears, and countless memories as families, friends, and staff gathered to honour this important milestone. We were especially proud to recognize 283 Ontario Scholars, along with the many students who received awards in recognition of their academic achievement, leadership, service, athletic accomplishments, and contributions to the TDSS community. Congratulations to all of our graduates, you have left your mark on Tommy Douglas, and we are excited to see where your next journey takes you.
To our graduating Grade 12 students, thank you for the leadership, school spirit, and positive impact you have had on our community. You have helped shape the culture of TDSS and have served as role models for younger students. As you move on to university, college, apprenticeships, the workplace, or other exciting opportunities, remember that you will always be a valued member of the TDSS family. We wish you every success and happiness in the years ahead.
To our returning Grade 9, 10, and 11 students, we hope you enjoy a safe, restful, and well-deserved summer break. Take time to relax, spend time with family and friends, pursue your interests, and return in September refreshed and ready for another great year of learning and growth.
As we close the 2025–2026 school year, thank you once again for your continued support and partnership. We wish all of our families a safe, healthy, and enjoyable summer.

Black Foundation of Community Networks (BFCN) Scholarships & Awards 2026-2027
A reminder that the 2026-2027 BFCN Scholarships & Awards application cycle has launched! BFCN will once again be awarding six $1000 scholarships and awards to Black students pursuing post-secondary education in accredited Canadian institutions. All online applications and supporting documents must be submitted by July 31, 2026.

Celebrating Innovation in Grade 9 Technology
Our Grade 9 Technology students recently completed an engaging summative project focused on design, creativity, and problem-solving. Working in pairs, students researched existing stool designs before creating both a 1:5 scale model and a full-size final product.
To add an extra layer of challenge, students were required to construct their stools without the use of fasteners, using only two materials—recycled cardboard and glue—along with available tools. Each design had to be strong enough to safely support a person, encouraging thoughtful planning, collaboration, and testing.
We are proud of the creativity and perseverance our students demonstrated as they designed, built, and tested their final products. Their work is a wonderful example of hands-on learning and innovation in action.
