Transitions to Secondary School

We are here to help.

Teen Titan Grade 9 Mentorship Program

The Teen Titan Mentorship Program focuses on supporting the transition of grade 8 students into high school by fostering positive mental health and wellbeing through a peer-to-peer mentorship model. It is a mentorship program at TDSS that works to foster team-building and healthy relationships between students to help Grade 9s transition into high school. It supports academic achievement by engaging students in fun activities, informative workshops and memorable trips. Through our Teen Titan Mentor program, we promote mental health and well-being and provide Grade 9s with a support system essential to a positive high school experience.

Some of the things we do:

Let's Connect Day

On the first day of school, Teen Titans welcome our Grade 9 students. On this day, students will attend their classes participate in a scavenger hunt and an assembly welcoming them to TDSS. We look forward to meeting you.

Life after Grade 8

Life after Grade 8 is an opportunity for incoming Grade 8 students to experience a day at Tommy Douglas. On this day, you will meet your Teen Titans Mentors and have an opportunity to become familiar with the life of a high school student.

Camp Tommy

Camp Tommy gives Grade 9s a fun-filled day that enhances educational outcomes and supports the transition into high school. Camp Tommy is yet another initiative that promotes student mental health and well-being facilitated by our Teen Titan Mentors.
